The red carpet was rolled out to honor and support music videos and music video production from the African continent at this year’s Channel O Music Video Awards, held last Friday at Johannesburg’s Sandton Convention Centre.

At the ceremony, which featured a host of live performances by artists from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Namibia, and Uganda, 14 Channel O statuettes were handed out to winners chosen by Channel O audiences.

The big winner on the night was local muso Zakes Bantwini, who scooped the coveted Most Gifted Video Award for his music video Wasting My Time.

Homegrown house music duo Liquid Deep walked away with two awards in the Most Gifted African Southern Video and Most Gifted Duo, Group or Featuring Video categories. The latter award was shared with Hip Hop heavy weights HHP and Tear Gas.
